tarot swords

Tarot Swords are one of the suits of the Minor Arcana in the tarot deck. Each suit has fourteen cards, an ace to ten and four court cards. The meaning of the Tarot Swords court cards will not be considered here.

Ace of Swords

The Tarot Swords Ace in a tarot reading shows a seed of clarity and awareness. This could be an opportunity, synchronistic event, encounter, gift or offer. Sometimes it stands for a challenge, or a reminder to face a challenge with honesty and courage.

Two of Swords

The Tarot Swords Two concerns the barriers we create within our selves and put between others, and ourselves, pretending that everything is all right. Thinking one way, yet feeling another, you are not willing to accept the truth about the situation, and have a closed heart.

Three of Swords

The Tarot Swords Three describes unexpected pain, betrayal, rejection, bad fortune, abandonment and separation. Times when you feel you are an open wound, and your heart is breaking. This is a valuable warning to listen to your inner voice, and look carefully at your situation.

Four of Swords

The Tarot Swords Four represents a challenge to be quiet, and stands for a trial of some kind. This card also means taking the time necessary to think things over. Don’t hurry, as it is vital to take a step back and look at the situation from a different viewpoint.

Five of Swords

The Tarot Swords Five shows self-interest. In a reading it may mean than you are only just defining your interests, or that you need to put your-self first. If you are worn out by demands, being taken advantage of, or abused, you need to look after yourself, or must get free. This card can signify tricks, lies and deceits.

Six of Swords

The Tarot Swords Six can represent a listless, dull state, nothing specific is wrong, but not really right either, you are just surviving, getting by. However this card can also show recovery from a psychological blow. It is also indicative of moving and traveling. Change is imminent.

Seven of Swords

The Tarot Swords Seven is tied to the five, in that both these cards entail separation from others. It can be a sign that you want to be a lone wolf, but make sure this really works for you. Are you procrastinating, or running from something? This card lets you know that you might be making things worse, if you are.

Eight of Swords

The Tarot Swords Eight stands for the times we feel confused, lost, and powerless, and help seems a million miles away. This can be because of a troubled relationship, debts, or a dead end job; even the tiniest of problems make you feel trapped. When you turn up this card, remember you do have choices.

Nine of Swords

The Tarot Swords nine represents the pain that we create from within. The thoughts that go around, and around in your head, which seem impossible to turn off. This card can be a warning that you are on a difficult path; maybe making a small change can help.

Ten of Swords

The Tarot Swords Ten can be a card that represents dreadful misfortune, but more often then not these problems are more melodramatic than genuine. Another meaning is hitting rock bottom, but then saying what else can go wrong, this is the turning point, things are about to get better. Another favorite activity of this Tarot Swords is martyrdom.
