The Moon: Fear or Personal Visualization?

The Moon is the light for the realm of shadow and night.  The Moon card, when reading tarot cards, usually means fear or anxiety.  But, it can mean so much more.  The Moon can also have the characteristics of inspiration and enchantment.  It is all in the perception.

the Moon card is apt to remind you of the unfamiliar, the shadowy figures, or the scary experiences.  The Moon card can also hold a promise when reading tarot cards: if you dare to imagine and are unafraid to allow something unusual or out of the ordinary into your life, you life can be enriched all the more because of it.

Generally, when reading tarot cards, the Moon card is depicted by a full moon, a crescent shape lying within.  There are dogs or wolves howling between two tall structures, or pillars.  A stream runs as though to the ocean, with a fish coming out of the water.

It is said that artists, poets, musicians, and madmen know the dark mysteries sometimes believed to underlie the Moon card.  The line between genius and insanity can run thin.  Drawing the Moon card when reading tarot cards can also point to the fact that you need to face your fears.  In doing so, your fears can be replaced by a knowledge that will allow your joys to double.  The mountains in the background of the Moon indicates, that opportunities exist and are available to you, you have only to reach for them and be unafraid.

In reading tarot cards, the Moon, being ruled by Pisces, is all about illusions, madness, genius, poetry, visions, and artistic endeavors that take your mind to a high level of experiencing creativity.

It may seem easy to lose your way with only the moonlight of the Moon card when reading tarot cards, but if you keep your faith and persistence high, and you are careful not to let trickery lead you astray, you can emerge victorious and with a clarity of sight and purpose previously unknown to you.

Cards in opposition to the Moon card, when reading tarot cards, include the Star (peaceful and serene) and the Sun (enlightenment and assurance).  Cards that reinforce the Moon card,  include the Seven of Cups (illusions), the Two of Swords (deceiving yourself), and the Eight of Swords (confusion).

Remember when reading tarot cards, the determination of the actual meaning of the card for you, depends on the reader/interpreter and the alignment and placement of the cards to each other in the instance of your reading.
